Why Most Grant Research Fails

Most research surfaces who sounds relevant. Not who actually funds.

Generic research gives you a list of funders whose mission language overlaps with your client's. That's not intelligence. That's a keyword match.

It misses the patterns that determine real outcomes: whether a funder only re-grants to existing partners, whether they've shifted their giving geography, what grant sizes they actually award versus what they claim to award, and whether they're realistically open to new applicants at all.

Every hour spent writing a proposal for the wrong funder is an hour that didn't move your client forward.

We analyze real grant history to show what's actually worth pursuing — before a word is written.

🎯

Surfaces funders that sound relevant, not ones that actually fund

Mission language overlaps ≠ a fundable relationship. Real patterns live in the grant history, not the funder's website.

🔄

Misses repeat grantee patterns

Many foundations primarily re-grant to existing relationships. Generic research doesn't flag this — so you write proposals that never had a chance.

💰

Ignores real grant size behavior

Stated grant ranges are often aspirational. Actual award history tells a very different story about what a funder realistically gives.

🗺️

Doesn't account for geographic drift

Funders shift their giving regions without updating their listed criteria. Real data shows where money is actually going now.

What Changes for Consultants

Your competitive advantage isn't writing faster.
It's choosing better.

The data for good funder decisions already exists. We've built the system to surface it.

📊

Funder Intelligence Engine

Built on IRS 990 filings, CRA records, and UK charity data — not website descriptions. We identify real giving patterns: who they fund, what size grants they actually award, whether they have open or closed intake, and whether new applicants have ever broken through.

Identifies repeat-grantee-only funders before you apply
Reveals actual grant sizes vs. stated ranges
Flags geographic giving drift you won't see on their site
Built on actual public filings, not generated assumptions

Fit Scoring You Can Defend

Every recommendation is scored on five factors: mission focus, geographic eligibility, grant size history, org type, and applicant openness. Clear reasoning behind every result.

Not keyword matching — pattern analysis. So you can show your client exactly why a funder made the shortlist, or why it didn't.

Multi-Country Coverage in One System

US + Canada + UK in a unified database. No more siloed research across different tools and directories. Serve cross-border clients without a cross-border research stack.

One intake. One ranked list. Three markets. Each with real filing data behind every result.

✍️

Draft Your Application (Optional)

Once you've confirmed a funder is worth pursuing, generate a starting draft aligned to their priorities and your client's mission. A structured first pass — not a finished proposal.

This is the bonus, not the headline. The real value is knowing which funders to approach in the first place.

What Changes

The difference isn't speed. It's clarity.

Before
Hours of manual funder research per client, with uncertain ROI
🎲 Guessing which funders are a fit based on surface-level descriptions
✍️ Writing tailored proposals for funders who weren't open to new applicants anyway
🔍 Separate tools and directories for US, Canada, and UK clients
Hard to explain to clients why certain funders are worth pursuing
After
Start every client engagement with a prioritized funder list in minutes
Know which funders to pursue — and which to skip — before you begin
🎯 Spend your time on funders that actually match your client's profile and history
🌍 Three-country coverage in a single search, one database
📋 Evidence-backed reasoning you can share directly with clients

How It Works

Clarity first. Then confidence. Then execution.

The workflow is built around decisions, not documents.

01

Understand your client

Enter mission, focus area, geography, budget, and org type. Takes about 3 minutes. This is the only guesswork-free step — it's just your client's actual profile.

02

Identify high-probability funders

Get a ranked shortlist based on real giving history — with clear reasoning for each match. More importantly: see which funders to skip.

Repeat-grantee-only funders flagged
Closed or paused intake highlighted
Budget mismatches surfaced before you apply
03

Draft — only if it's worth it

Once you've validated fit, generate a first-pass application draft for that specific funder. Optional. Use it as a structured starting point, not a finished product.

The Math

$149/month for a tool that pays for itself with one client.

Most consultants spend 5–8 hours per client on funder research alone. That time has a real cost. Here's a conservative look at what better decisions are worth.

Consultant plans start at $149/month. Typically pays for itself with one client engagement. See plans →

Consultant FAQ

Questions consultants ask before trying it

Is this replacing me?

No. CharityGrantWriter is a funder intelligence tool — it handles the research-intensive parts so you can do more high-value work: strategy, client relationships, proposal refinement, submission management. Think of it as a research analyst who's already read every public filing in three countries.

How accurate is the funder intelligence?

Each funder is scored on five factors derived from real filing data: mission and focus alignment, geographic eligibility, grant size history, org type fit, and whether the funder realistically accepts new applicants. Every match includes its reasoning, so you can validate with your own professional judgment — which is exactly how it should work.

What countries are covered?

The US, Canada, and the United Kingdom — foundations, corporate giving programs, and government-backed grants across all three markets in one unified system. No more siloed research across separate directories.

Can I white-label the reports for my clients?

Funder match reports and proposal drafts are currently delivered without CharityGrantWriter branding — you can incorporate them into your own deliverables. Branded white-label reports are in development for consultant accounts.

Is my clients' data kept confidential?

Yes. Intake data is never used to train models and is never shared with other users. Submissions are retained for 12 months and then deleted. You can request early deletion at hello@charitygrantwriter.com.
